So I was gardening with my Grandpa this afternoon, we were rototilling a plot for some herbs, and something he said made me start thinking about Xander. He said to me "Don't stand there, if this thing throws a rock you could lose an eye."
And I was off. I couldn't help but think of Xander, and his lost eye, and what that kind of injury meant. There's been a lot of fics written post-losing-the-eye, and I think it's because there's a morbid fascination with it. Buffy died, several times, all the scoobies were injured in one form or another over time, but Xander's loss seemed so much more.
The horror of losing an eye, a body part that is so vulnerable and irreplacable, seems deeper and more emotionally scarring than even death. I always wondered why they (the writers of ME) didn't explore that more. Perhaps it was because the storyline was so big that adding to it would seem burdensome, but I always felt like they just kind of brushed over what that did to Xander. He was too ok and too jokey about it in the end. And perhaps that's why that event spawned a million fics about it...maybe we all felt the deeper horror of it, and wanted to give it the time and emotional weight that it deserved.
What did that event mean to you guys? Did it disturb you as much as it did me?

This story refers back to the events of 950-1mil particularly the one at the auction and Sam's messed up dream world. There's a big bad out there but it's not going to affect the kids at all, so relax and don't worry about anything happening to them. This is the start of a big huge background arc that culminates at 1.5 mil (geez!) My absolute favorite one time character from the show is about to make an appearance and I'm very excited about that.
In other news Mikeyversery is just 3 days away! I know the story I want to write, but I've been trying to finish this story since I have trouble doing two things at once. I'm hopefully going to get it done on time, but I may not since I'm extra super excited about Jared and Jensen coming over for a playdate. (oh who am i kidding, of course it'll get done. Not like I have a life.)

Hello :)
My church is having a rather large celebration this Summer... In about a week, actually. And they want to incorporate foreign languages as part of the services. They know I've studied Arabic... But they also seem to think that 2 years of Arabic = fluent :(
Anyhow, they'd like me to translate this prayer petition into Arabic and read it during the service... Except I have to admit that, for the majority of the prayer, I could do no better than copying and pasting (and hoping) from a dictionary.
It's just one (run-on) sentence, but if anyone could help me translate this into Arabic (Standard, FusHa), or give tips on pronunciation, it would be unbelievably helpful!
(We pray) for Father Greg’s family and friends here present, and for those who are unable to be here today, in thankfulness for their devotion, support, and compassionate example.

Mini update on real life, because right now I'm totally psyched to be alive.
1.) I'm officially a practicing chemist now. I just got a research position through a local hospital; it starts in a month and involves experimenting on rat and human uteruses with drugs. So not only is it a biochemical research job (and not some stupid industry job where I'd make bleach all day), but it's in drugs AND women's health, which are my favorite research topics. I'm so psyched, I can't even tell you.
2.) I'm gonna be a Maid of Honor for a wedding that will not be mentioned here unless she tells me it's okay to tell everyone. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
3.) Ben and Alex just got a sweet apartment about a half-mile from mine. So now there's going to be a Boy Pad within walking distance of our Girl Pad, and it will be the place to a.) dump in-town guests every once in a while so we don't have 60 people in our living room and b.) play video games really hard, since Alex is a SEVERE gamer. I think we may also be chipping in together to get a Rock Band set that will migrate from pad to pad.

I read it on Spander Flies but I can't seem to find it now...
Anyways, something happen to Spike that got him hurt (something to do with an earthquake and his crypt falling in on top of him.) Anyways, he losses his memory and is brought back to when he was first turned. Turns out though that since Dru fucked up Spike was a baby vamp. So know his all baby!vamp and he thinks Xander's is sires because he was the first one to give Spike some blood.
I really want to read it again. I really liked it. So if any of you know where it is our it's title, please tell me.

so it's a spander where Xander is kinda young and i think this is an au season 2, Xander starts to have dreams about william and himself in a past life. He remembers spike before he was turned, he tells willow and buffy and they help him out. I think he gets rejected by spike and attempts suicide but spike finds him in time.
please help me find this it's driving me crazy. lol thank you!
